Mars and Beyond...
- By Chuck Bennett
- Published May 26, 2008
With the exciting and safe landing of the Phoenix Space Probe on the Red Planet of Mars yesterday, we are once step further towards the beyond. Beyond our Earth's confines is a mysterious universe ready to be prodded through.
We are looking for water on the red planet. That would indicate either former life or fututre life sustainability. Keep your eyes out for some of the pictures being beamed back from Phoenix.
Black Energy Saving Search from Homerfind.com

I came accross this site called HomerFind.com. It is basically a Google search screen but its background is all black. It references a blog a couple years ago about how Google would save the Earth millions of watts of energy if it only turned its screen black as well. This is due to the enormous popularity of Google. Now this may or may not save any energy, but I like the general awareness that it creates in the world of ecology. There are really nice pictures of nature and animals on there as well that scroll through like a slide show. Possibly a good screen saver as well. You can set it as your home page and if you happen to be a big Googler, then you're all set.
Pass this on to your friends and let it spread. We can all do a little part to save the Earth, search by search.

Should Hillary Drop Out?
- By William Stephenson
- Published May 24, 2008
Hillary Clinton is behind in every way imaginable in the Democrat Presidential Primary.....All but one of course. She's the more electable candidate. There may be some that say this decision will come down to race, and that may be, but right now I believe it is an issue of Barak Obama's ultra liberal politics. Believe it or not, Obama is far more liberal then Hillary Clinton. No one on the far left or right usually gets elected in the United States. While sticking to convictions is crucial in this run for the White House, the most electable candidate will sometimes lean left of center and sometimes lean right of center.
I don't think that Hillary should go anywhere right now. The very fact that the super delegates will ultimately decide this race is the card that Hillary has in her corner. After all, the super delegates were put in place with the power they have for this very reason of electability. When Reagan blew out Walter Mondale in the 1984 Presidential election, the Democrat party had to act. The super delegates were the answer. The super delegates are not beholden to the whims of their constituants. Their responsibility reaches as far as deciding which candidate will most likely win the ultimate prize in November.
On the notion that this is tearing up the Democrat Party, that is probably correct. But, that my friends is a problem for another day and for the Democrat Party itself.
The 2008 Olympics - To Boycott or Not?
- By William Stephenson
- Published May 23, 2008
The politicization of the Olympic Games is wrong. The athletes that participate will have spent decades sometimes in order to prepare and compete in the games themselves. We are only hurting them. Our argument needs to occur long before game time with the IOC selection committee.
Unfortunately, these international outfits seem to think they can influence dictators, rouge nations, and human rights violators with the promise of legitimacy and prestige. It just hasn't turned out that way in the past. Money and power will typically always trump the good will of nations. You can't bribe them into doing better by their people with hopes of the Olympic Games.
When will we learn? Let's not hurt the fine athletes by pulling them into the middle of something far deeper than their scope.
Beating up on the oil companies
- By William Stephenson
- Published May 22, 2008
I don't think that we need to be taking our frustrations out on the oil companies simply because supply and demand and our ineffective energy policy has gotten the best of us.For years and years the oil companies saw their barrels of oil fetch $20 instead of $125+ today. Who was on their side then? We keep hearing about record oil company revenues, but after one takes out the cost of doing their business, their actual profits are actually down slightly. Yes, the numbers are huge, but so is the American consumers desire for oil consumption.
We have not built a refinery in the United States for over 30 years now. This is policy based. Nobody wants it in their back yard, yet everyone wants to enjoy the spoils. Let's take a hard look at our own policies we set in Congress and stop beating up on some of our finest examples of capitalism in the United States. What separates ourselves from much of the rest of the world is our capitalist friendly nature.
Enough Already!
